Lung Transplant Pulmonary Fellowship 2025-2026

UT Southwestern Medical Center
Dallas, TX

We invite applications for our one-year fellowship in Dallas, TX focused on lung transplantation and mechanical respiratory support.

Program Update

UT Southwestern is pleased to announce that we are expanding our prerequisite eligibility to include fellows completing training in either Pulmonary Disease or Critical Care Medicine in addition to those who complete a combined Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship. Additionally, we routinely sponsor the J-1 visa and may be able to sponsor an H-1 visa in select cases. This fellowship appointment begins July 2025.

Program Overview

UT Southwestern’s Lung Transplant Fellowship Program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of lung transplantation.  The program places significant emphasis on adopting a multidisciplinary approach to both patient care and education. Fellows receive hands-on training in the assessment and treatment of both pre- and post-transplant patients. This includes pre-transplant evaluations, postoperative care, and long-term follow-up.

In addition, fellows gain experience in management of mechanical circulatory support/ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), and learn to utilize EVLP (ex vivo lung perfusion) in the recovery of donor lungs. Exceptional research opportunities in lung transplantation, transplant infectious disease and EVLP are available.

The UT Southwestern Lung Transplant Program is renowned for its high transplant volume. This exposure serves to augment fellows’ clinical proficiency and skill set. The educational curriculum of the program incorporates a well-organized and systematic approach to learning.

Applications are accepted from July 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025 with interviews scheduled on a rolling basis during that interval.
