GREAT PULMONARY/CCM OPPORTUNITY (Posted 10/23/08)

Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden, SC and University of South Carolina (Columbia) Pulmonary Critical Care wish to announce a position which is available as of July 1, 2009. It will be J1 Waiver compatible. KCMC is a beautiful 121 bed fully staffed hospital based in historic Camden. The physician will have access to up to date technology, a beautiful 8 bed ICU, full PFT capabilities, and a modern sleep laboratory. The physician will be integrated into USC PCCM division and will have opportunity to round with medical students, residents, and Pulmonary Fellows.

Board certification and/or eligibility in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care is required. Board certification in Sleep Medicine would be a plus. A three year commitment minimum is expected.

A very competitive salary with incentive is offered as are excellent benefits, 4 weeks paid time off, and one week CME/yr. The USC PCCM physicians will cover the practice during vacations and/or academic rotations.

Interventional Pulmonologist (Posted 10/23/08)

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine and Palmetto Richland Hospital Division of Pulmonary/CCM/Sleep Disorders has additional positions available in Pulmonary/Critical Care or Critical Care only at the assistant professor or associate professor level. We have an active division of 12 attendings (including 3 who are VA based) with niche clinics in CF, Pulmonary Hypertension, Sleep Disorders, Interventional Pulmonology, Lung Nodules, Interstitial Lung Disease and Sarcoidosis, and hope to add a special Cough clinic. We direct the Palmetto Richland MICU and MSU (intermediate care) as well as pft lab, sleep lab, and pulmonary rehabilitation program. Palmetto Richland is a 650 bed tertiary care hospital which is a level 1 trauma center and regional referral center. Our group is young, energetic, and fun. Fellowship in Lung Transplant (Posted 7/7/08)

Prepare for a career in lung transplant at one of the oldest and fastest growing lung transplant centers in the country. The Division of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine has two openings for a one-year training program in lung transplant starting July 1, 2009. The program is a part of an established multi-disciplinary team in advanced lung disease and lung transplantation and coordinates closely with other solid-organ transplant programs. Approximately 60 lung transplants are done each year. The lung transplant team consists of two pulmonary/Critical care/Transplant attendings, two senior and one junior transplant fellows, three transplant surgeons and several nurse coordinators. The Division is developing a new 24/7 intensivist practice at Fairview Southdale Hospital, a busy well-equipped western Minneapolis metropolitan-area community hospital housing a 23-bed ICU located 10 miles from the Medical School’s primary teaching hospital, the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview (UMMC). The successful applicant will be board-certified/eligible in Critical Care. Additional training in Pulmonary is desirable but not required. Clinical effort will be divided between the Southdale ICU the University of Minnesota MICU, possibly other Fairview ICUs or an e-ICU, Pulmonary Consult Service and ambulatory clinics at UMMC. The successful applicant is expected to develop collaborative ICU-oriented research projects that capitalize on the University’s extensive resources in applied clinical research. Critical Care Clinician-Scholar Positions (Posted 5/12/08)

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Minnesota seeks three academically-oriented faculty members whose primary clinical responsibilities will be as intensivists in a 23-bed medical-surgical (no trauma) ICU at Fairview Southdale Hospital, a well-equipped western Minneapolis sister hospital to the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview (UMMC).

Alain Broccard, MD, Professor of Medicine, has been recruited to lead this program, which emphasizes clinical excellence and clinical research. Board-certification/eligibility in Critical Care is required; additional training in Pulmonary is desirable but not required. Appointments will be at a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinician-Scholar Track.

Request For Applications—Program For Adult Care Excellence (PACE) (Posted 4/16/08)

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis (CF) and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. As the average life expectancy of patients continues to increase, CFF recognizes the growing demand for physicians trained to address the unique medical needs of adult CF patients and the need for greater participation from adult care programs in the clinical research enterprise. To this end, CFF announces the launch of a Program for Adult Care Excellence (PACE) to expand the scope of adult care programs for people with CF and to increase the number of adult caregivers. CFF releases this Request for Applications (RFA) for training awards to physicians interested in developing expertise in the care of adult patients with CF.

Applicants must be physicians trained in Internal Medicine or Medicine and Pediatrics. The sponsoring institution should have a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-accredited Care Center or Affiliate program, and the Care Center or Affiliate must have an existing Adult Program or meet the requirements for an Adult Program (at least 20 CF patients 18 years of age or older). The CF Care Center Director or Affiliate Director must provide a letter affirming that the applicant will be integrated into the Adult Care Program and attend CF Clinic on a weekly basis. All applicants must be either a citizen of the United States or have a permanent resident visa. Proof of citizenship status is required at time of application.

Successful applicants will receive funding of up to $27,000 per year ($25,000 direct costs plus 8% indirects) for up to three years. The application deadline is June 2, 2008 and funding will begin July 1, 2008.

Stony Brook University Medical Center, located in suburban Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, is now accepting applications for its one-year multidisciplinary ACGME-accredited Sleep Fellowship.
