Membership,
Dues and Meetings
- Membership
in the Association will be open to all directors of North
America, US and Canada, pulmonary and/or critical care medicine
training programs.
- The
annual dues for members shall be determined by the officers
and approved by the membership.
- Meetings
of the organization shall be at the time and place of the
annual meeting of the ATS and ACCP and such other times as determined
by the officers.
Officers
- The
officers of the Association shall be a President, President-Elect,
Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer. The officers shall
be active training program directors at their own institutions.
- All
of the officers of the Association shall be elected by the
members of the Association in good standing. The terms of
the President, President-Elect, Vice President shall be
one year, commencing upon the adjournment of the meeting
at which they are elected. The Secretary-Treasurer shall
serve a term of four years. All officers shall hold office
until their successors are duly elected.
- The
Association will elect a Vice-President annually and a Secretary-Treasurer
every four years. The Vice-President shall become President-Elect
and the President-Elect shall become President on the first
and second anniversaries of their election as Vice-President.
- Should
an officer cease to be a program director, or be unable
to perform the duties of office, another member shall be
nominated by the Nominating Committee and voted upon at
the earliest practical time, but in no case later than the
next meeting of the Association.
- Members
may only vote for officers in person or through their designees
at the time of the voting meeting. Twenty-five members of
their designees, present in person, shall constitute a quorum.
- The
officers are empowered to act for the Association in all
matters.
Committees
- Standing
committees of the Association shall be created (or disabled)
by a majority of the quorum present at regular meetings.
Members will be appointed to staggered terms by the President
of the Association as soon as possible after the creation
of the standing committee. Each new President shall appoint
at least one member. Number of members and lengths of terms
shall be designated by the President initially appointing
the standing committee, and can be modified by subsequent
Presidents as necessary to accomplish the standing committee's
charge. All expenses of the standing committee operations
shall be borne by the Association
- The
Nominating Committee shall be a permanent standing committee.
Members will be the three most recent Past-Presidents. The
immediate Past-President shall serve as Chairperson.
- Ad
hoc committees will be organized as determined and appointed
by the President in consultation with our officers.
Amendments
to the Bylaws
- Amendments
to these bylaws must be proposed by the officers, the membership
being notified by mail at least one month in advance and
passed by a majority of the quorum preset at a regular meeting
of the Association.
